When you see Clare Plug’s monochromatic quilts, you are struck by their unusual colours. The greys and blacks that Plug uses are some distance from traditional quilting fabrics. However, stand in front of one of them for a while and you hear that distinctive New Zealand voice, telling you a story of a specific time and place.”
